In love with my beautiful daughter!
Golden Mount and Wat Saket, Bangkok. The Wat, temple, is build on what used to be the highest point in Bangkok. Situaded just outside the old royal city precincts.
Wat Saket sits on top of the Golden Mount which is not a natural outcrop, but an artificial hill. During the reign of King Rama III (1787–1851) the decision was made to build a chedi (stupa) of huge dimensions to add to the Wat Saket temple. However, the large chedi collapsed during the construction process because the soft soil beneath would not support it. The resulting mud-and-brick hillock was left alone for about half a century, taking the shape of a natural hill and becoming overgrown with weeds. Finally under King Rama IV, a small Chedi was built on the hilltop. This smaller structure was finished under King Rama V (1853–1910), when a Buddha relic from India was housed in the chedi. In the 1940s the surrounding concrete walls were built to prevent the hill from eroding.
Everytime I am in Bangkok I have to visit this place. On top you’ll find the nicest vieuw over the city!
A few years ago I travelled along the Belgium coast. Near the France-Belgium border I stumbled upon this nice little vieuw. There was something with this place. I took this image with an old Nikon body, I believe it was a F1 model, and an old infrared film. Afterwards I added a little colour. It felt like it needed it…
Paris, ‘Cimetière du Père-Lachaise’. At the begining the Père Lachaise” was a poor district, with many outlaws, winding streets and shady avenues. Napoleon, as Prefect of Paris, bought the land and build a cemetary for the rich and famous. It is one of my favourite spots in Paris.
Champagne area in the North of France. Beautiful landscapes and very nice wines!
Magical landscape in Tuscany.
